Fund the collection of plastic waste in highly polluted coastal regions around the world.
Figure from OECD - Global Plastics Outlook Report (2022)
Between 11-14 million tonnes of plastic waste end up in the ocean every year, most of it because it is not properly managed.
Only 9% of plastic waste globally gets recycled. Half of the world's waste is sent to landfill and 1/5 is mismanaged.
Open burning of waste generates the equivalent of 2–10% of global CO2Eq emissions.
greenhouse gas emissions (ghg equivalent) saved
grocery bags (6g)
car tyres 9.5kg
blue whales 140,000kg

The result - clean oceans, less pollution, lower emissions.
More than two billion people worldwide lack access to waste management services (UN, 2024). Without these facilities, waste is often burned in open environments, dumped or discarded in nature, finding its way to the ocean.
Plastic waste is collected from households, communities, and nature, preventing it from reaching the ocean or ending up in landfill. The waste is sorted and either recycled or used as alternative fuel in cement production, replacing coal and gas.
We work with communities long-term. That’s why a monthly subscription is the best way to support this work and establish proper waste management.
